Take-Away Chrome
By runner • Sep 7th, 2008 • Category: FeaturesNo sooner has the browser launched, than people are already finding ways of taking it away with them, on a flash drive. Caschy, a German blogger, has found a way of doing it. His instructions and download link are in this page: original (in German) or machine-translated version (in English).
It is easy to follow the instructions and to carry the loader on your portable drive. Please note that this does not make Google Chrome portable in the sense that PortableApps.com does with Firefox. Rather, you are carrying an installer with you that creates a local copy and allows you to find and carry your profile with you, thus in effect retaining your browser history and bookmarks.
Some early testing on my machines suggests that it works, and you may want to give it a try. Comment below on your experiences.
